Over three decades, Alam Santi founders have responded to over 35 major disasters, working hand-in-hand with communities to increase resilience when responding to impacts and helping with recovery aligned with regeneration principles.
This work began long before Alam Santi existed as a company. Petra Schneider and Gede Sugiartha's disaster response experience runs back through decades of fieldwork across Indonesia, from earthquakes and tsunamis to floods, landslides and volcanic eruptions, working directly alongside the communities living through them rather than at a distance.
The images below span that history: emergency response in the immediate aftermath, the slower work of recovery and rebuilding, and the community education that helps places prepare before the next disaster hits. Across all of it, the same principle holds: recovery is strongest when it's led by the community itself, with outside support built to reinforce that, not replace it.
If you would like to work with Alam Santi to implement your CSR project for disaster response or learn the principles of community-based disaster management, contact us to discuss your vision.
